Coming to terms with my condition was my biggest challenge

Shobhika Kalra

"Coming to terms with my condition was my biggest challenge. I didn’t want to accept it — especially because I knew what life was like without such a disorder and realising that it was all no more. I understood I was not made ordinary because I was meant to achieve the extraordinary. I don’t feel bad that I’m in a wheelchair anymore. I got out of all my negative phases during the two years in my room. Everything’s a challenge now — even going to the washroom; who thinks about things like that when you’re healthy! — but I enjoy a good challenge so I’m happy.” - Shobhika Kalra, who got diagnosed with a rare degenerative disorder but chose to overcome the barriers to live a full life.
